The purpose of the program is primarily to provide financial assistance to the member and legal beneficiaries in case of death of the BOPEL member.
Every BOPEL member is eligible for membership and is already entitled to a mortuary aid including his/her beneficiary, provided the following shall have been satisfactorily met:
A member in good standing of the UNION;
Must be in good health condition at the time of application;
Not more than fifty five (55) years of age at the time of application. However, “Rank-and-file employees who are more than fifty five (55) years old and who intend to apply for BOPEL membership shall still be accepted upon presentation of a Medical Certificate and subject to one (1) year contestability period as allowed by law. Provided further, that they will only be entitled to 50% of the mortuary aid benefits including their designated beneficiaries, except when the death is caused by accident. Provided finally, that upon retirement and after paying the lifetime dues, the members and their designated beneficiaries shall still receive 50% of the mortuary benefits” per approved Resolution 2013-08.
Must have fully paid the required contribution of ₱250.00.
Any BOPEL member upon his/her retirement from the government service who are 60 years old and above may continue as such or become a lifetime or honorary life member upon one-time payment of ₱1,500.00 lifetime due and shall be entitled to mortuary assistance. However, when his/her designated beneficiary dies, they shall no longer be provided the mortuary assistance.
Beneficiaries of the deceased BOPEL Member shall receive P20,000.00. The death of the beneficiary shall entitle the BOPEL member to receive P12,000.00.
Beneficiaries of retired members having paid lifetime dues with incremental amount shall receive the following mortuary benefits per approved Board Resolution No. 2013-15:

Requirements to be submitted to the Treasurer to claim this benefit
Death certificate dully certified by the Local Civil Registrar;
Marriage contract if the claimant is the legal spouse;
Birth certificate of a son or daughter if he/she is the claimant with the Special Power of Attorney (SPA) from other children if there are some; and
Birth certificate of the deceased member if claimant is the parent.
CNA Leave Benefit
A three (3) days Union Leave available to all bonafide BOPEL members
It has to be filed/applied at least five (5) working days before the effectivity date/s thereof, except on emergency cases.
An application for Union Leave shall bear the initials of BOPEL Chairperson and Committee on Membership certifying that the applicant is a member in good standing and eventually bear the signature of the BOPEL President or his/her authorized representative, before it will be processed and approved by the head of office concerned.
Capitol Medical Clinic
This Clinic is located the BOPEL Office at the Ground Floor of the New Capitol Building
It is manned by a Doctor and Nurse who can provide free medical services and medicine to all BOPEL members
